GroundFloor Media’s crisis communication strategist Gil Rudawsky quoted on the dying concept of ‘off the record’

GroundFloor Media’s Gil Rudawsky offered his expertise in a Ragan.com article about how the media landscape changed, and how is never a good idea to go “off the record” with reporters. Gil Rudawsky, senior director of communications at Ground Floor Media, said the relationships between reporters and sources have changed drastically over the past few years. “It used to be that a reporter covered the same beat and relied on the same sources,” he says. “There was an unwritten rule that if you gave a reporter off-the-record information, it would not get used, and if it did, they would have burned a valuable source, and word would get around to other sources that the reporter is untrustworthy. Now reporters don’t really care about source development since they are generalists and will likely never speak to you again.” Read the entire piece here.
